PGA National Wedding | Ashley and Mikel

Ashley and Mikel’s PGA National wedding was full of romantic gold accents, a greenery-draped outdoor ceremony, and an adorable four-legged groomsman! These college sweethearts found their wedding inspiration in none other than Justin Timberlake! They incorporated personal touches into their PGA National wedding day, including a bridal bouquet made by Ashley’s mother. Ashley shared with us some of the fun details of their history together, and their story couldn’t be sweeter!

“How We Met” 

My first college roommate, Katie (Maid of Honor), was stranded in the FGCU Bookstore during a rain storm. Mike’s high school buddy, Sam (Groomsman), offered to give Katie a ride back to her dorm. After he dropped her off, he invited her to a party before attending a concert on the FGCU campus. Being a freshman in the first semester of school, Katie invited me to come along to make some new friends. It was there that I met Mike!

“The Proposal”

What started out as a Housewarming party on December 26, 2015 turned into an impromptu engagement party! Our closest friends and family came over to celebrate the next big step in our relationship, our first home! Around 9pm, it was time to thank everyone for coming, as well as thank our parents and extended family for helping turn a house into our home. Little did I know, Mike had a ring in his pocket! When it was my turn to speak, Mike interrupted me mid-sentence to drop to one knee and ask for my hand in marriage. I had no idea know this would be one of the best nights of my life!

“Wedding Inspiration” 

Our wedding inspiration came from our love for Justin Timberlake’s “20/20 album” cover. Our colors were black, white, and gold, with a suit & bowtie, literally! All of the groomsmen picked up the skill of tying their own bow ties. Although the dresses were the same color, each bridesmaid picked their own style which allowed them to show off their different personalities!
